The Film Series (1995 - )

  • The 1st Computer Animated Film Series of all time and Pixar’s 1st Feature Film Series.

  • Greatly commercially and critically successful, the films have made $3 billion worldwide making it the 20th Top Grossing Film Series and 4th Top Grossing Animated Film Series as well as, according to Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, the Most and 2nd Most Critically Acclaimed Series of all Time.

Toy Story (1995)

  • The 1st Computer Animated Film of all time and Pixar’s 1st Feature Film.

  • Commercially and critically successful, it marked the 2nd Top Grossing Film of 1995, it won an Academy Special Achievement Award for computer animation while nominated for Best Original Screenplay (the 1st for an animated film), Best Original Score for “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” and Best Original Score.

  • Critically it was praised for its story, cast, animation, music and entertainment value for all ages.

  • One of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All-Time, one of two animated feature films, next to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Toy Story 2 (1999)

  • Commercially and greatly critically successful, it marked the 3rd Top Grossing film of 1999, it won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “When Shed Loved Me”.

  • Critically it is praised as one of the great yet rare sequels which supercedes the original film.

Toy Story 3 (2010)

  • Greatly commercially and critically successful, it marked the #1 Top Grossing film of 2010 and the 2nd highest opening ever for an animated film at the time as well as the 1st to gross over $1 billion.

  • Critically it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “We Belong Together” while it was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound Editing and it marked the 3rd animated film in history nominated for Best Picture.

  • Major praise went to its screenplay, performances, animation, emotional depth and music, with it marking the third film in what Mark Kermode of the BBC called “the best movie trilogy of all time.”

Toy Story 4 (2019)

  • Greatly commercially and critically successful, it marked the 8th Top Grossing Film of 2019 and the 3rd highest opening ever for an animated film as well as the 43rd film and 4th Pixar film to exceed $1 billion.

  • Critically it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for Best Original Song, making it the 1st animated franchise to win this major award twice.
